Umyorm is a Muser Lay (also known as Black Lahu) village. There are currently 27 houses in which visitors can learn, live and mingle with the Muser Lay people. Visitors can trek along an unspoiled route with plenty of uncommon plants such as Ton Yang Nong and Ton Dao. An added bonus is the spectacular view of the mist above Umyorm mountain and its waterfalls. Two visitors are allowed in each house. The Thai Elephant Conservation Centre, Lampang province, has recently organised an Elephant Training Programme in order to teach the public about elephants and promote ecotourism. There are three home stay accommodations built in northern style and the visitors who attend the training programme will have the chance to live the life of a mahout for three days and two nights. All food is included. The host will teach guests how to cook northern style Thai food and get to eat a Kantok style dinner. The package costs 4,000 baht per person.
